Khalil Helali, Tehran’s police chief said, “Women can work in the kitchen of traditional restaurants but employing women in the public areas of these coffee shops are prohibited….In general, employing women in coffee shops is banned. Women can request permits for coffee shops but must name men as their caretakers in these public places because the law bans women from entering or working in coffee shops “.
