In an interview broadcast live on the state-run TV, the spokesman and deputy social commander of the State Security Force (SSF) said, “Social norms must be observed in order to have a peaceful existence, and one of these accepted norms is to wear the veil.”
He said, “There is definite evidence indicating that if the SSF had not taken action, the situation would have much worse and our measures have had an impeding role.” Montazer-ol Mahdi said, “Please note that the SSF is only one and the last link in the chain of the 26 agencies in charge of this issue (combatting mal-veiling). It is therefore necessary that other agencies also take action and get involved.”
