The reconsideration trial for Atena Faraghdani was held Sunday, December 20, 2015.
Ms. Faraghdani who has been in prison since January 9, 2015, was sentenced to 12 years and nine months imprisonment. She is charged with “insulting Majlis deputies by her painting”, “association and complicity with counterrevolutionaries” and “insulting the leader of the Islamic Republic”.
Last year, after two months of imprisonment in the Revolutionary Guards prison, Ms. Faraghdani said that her paintings were the main theme of her interrogations. She is presently detained in women’s ward of Evin Prison.
