Director General of Women and Family Affairs in the Interior Ministry, Fahimeh Farahmand, with an obscenity that is the hallmark of the clerical regime, said: “Lack of suitable recreation is the main cause of drug addiction among women.”
Although there is no doubt about women being deprived of cultural, artistic, athletic and other opportunities in Iran but it is utter shamelessness to say that “lack of suitable recreation” is the main cause of addiction when 87 per cent of women are unemployed and educated women commit suicide out of disappointment and hopelessness.
Noting the high rate of unemployment among educated women, Farahmandpour acknowledged: “We have not been able to plan properly as it suits women’s educational opportunities.”
