The United Nations has categorized Iran among the countries which offer the smallest number of job opportunities to women and for this reason have a high rate of unemployment among women.
A report by the International Labor Organization, ILO, which was published on Thursday, March 8, 2018, on the International Women’s Day, indicates that women’s unemployment rate in Iran is double men’s unemployment.
In the ranking among 144 countries, the UN has placed Iran among countries that provide the smallest number of job opportunities and economic participation at the disposal of women. Women earn 65 per cent less than men for equal work.
In recent decades, Iranian women have made up more than 50 per cent of university graduates, nevertheless, their economic participation stands at 13.8 per cent and the job market in Iran remains male-dominated, according to experts.
