NCRI WOMEN'S COMMITTEE

Works extensively with Iranian women outside the country and maintains a permanent contact with women inside Iran. The Women’s Committee is actively involved with many women's rights organizations and NGO's and the Iranian diaspora. The committee is a major source of much of the information received from inside Iran with regards to women. Attending UN Human Rights Commission meetings and other international or regional conferences on women’s issues, and engaging in a relentless battle against the Iranian regime's misogyny are part of the activities of members and associates of the committee.

22,000 women have been dealt with over a year in the city of Tonekabon, northern Iran, in line with the constant crackdown on women for imposing the compulsory veil on them.

“The State Security Force in Tonekabon gave verbal warnings to 22,163 women over the past year and impounded 410 vehicles whose passengers had not observed the veil,” announced Tonekabon’s SSF commander, Ramin Shams, in his speech on the occasion of the SSF Day.

He also admitted that his agents have sealed 310 business units for not implementing gender segregation at the workplace. (The state-run Tonekabon city’s website – October 16, 2017)
