NCRI WOMEN'S COMMITTEE

Works extensively with Iranian women outside the country and maintains a permanent contact with women inside Iran. The Women’s Committee is actively involved with many women's rights organizations and NGO's and the Iranian diaspora. The committee is a major source of much of the information received from inside Iran with regards to women. Attending UN Human Rights Commission meetings and other international or regional conferences on women’s issues, and engaging in a relentless battle against the Iranian regime's misogyny are part of the activities of members and associates of the committee.

Remarks at roundtable discussion, "Women in Leadership, the Experience of the Iranian Resistance" – Tirana, IWD 2017

This is not just a resistance movement, but it is a movement that proposes a new option for living.

This is the first time I am taking part in such a program. Therefore I would like to speak about my feelings when I joined your gathering. The first night, seeing these smiling women was so amazing to me. They paid a lot of attention to us and there was a warm reception. Then I learned today how much these women have suffered and their tortuous experiences are inconceivable for us. Only a small part of what you have experienced can destroy us.

Therefore, we and at least myself, I feel very humble before the reality of these women and I must learn from them very much. I believe that we must also learn a lot from the strategy used in this issue, a strategy that redefines the relationship between men and women.

I don't know how we can disseminate this information throughout the world, but I know that this is a precious jewel. This is a gem that we, western women who think we have had a lot of progress in this regard, have to ponder about. But we don't know how to find a new way for coexistence of men and women. The reason I say this is that this is a precious gem and I want to learn more about it. I want to learn about the system and learn about the method of achieving this coexistence. I am committed to disseminating this information.

Yet, another issue I would like to bring up is that basically we do not know much about this movement. I personally discovered it a year ago. But if I bring up this issue in Sicily, where I come from, no one would know anything about it while they must know about it and know even more because this is not just a resistance movement, but it is a movement that proposes a new option for living.

I don't know how, but I know that I must learn more about your movement to be able to speak about it.

Thank you.
