Annual Conference for Democratic Change in Iran – June 2013 (Villepinte, Paris)
Christine Ockrent: Ladies and gentlemen, good evening, what a beautiful and long day; We heard a lot of speeches by prominent personalities but there is one aspect that has not been sufficiently emphasized.
Tens of thousands of you have gathered here in order to support the views and actions of Mrs. Maryam Rajavi for the fight against Islamic fundamentalism. Fundamentalism changes the nature of religion and promotes bloodshed and violence, represses women, and destroys cultures thousands of years old.
Regarding the Iranian election, the point that drew my attention is that in any dictatorship and even a religious dictatorship there is always a gap and we see the look of people who have hope. We see the smile of young girls and we say to ourselves that today with TV and social networks, Twitter and all the tools that we have we are here and especially you are here to tell Iranian people that they are not alone in their efforts to establish freedom, liberty and peace. Thank you.
