Nasrin Sotudeh was banned from practicing law for 3 years at the request of Evin prison’s prosecutor on 18 October. The judge had previously told Sotudeh that she should hand her certificate to the court and pull back from advocacy for now because the court is under pressure.
The issuance of such a verdict for lawyers who have been or are still political prisoners isn’t unprecedented. She had acknowledged this verdict as a preparation to ban other lawyers who accept being the lawyers of political prisoner.
