Pressures and discrimination against women in Iran’s southern provinces has been expanding at a significant rate. In this regard, Tahere Eidizadeh, a university professor, has said women in Khuzestan Province (southwestern Iran) are not permitted to enter political and social activities.
They are considered as second-class citizens by their tribes, this professor said, adding in many cases women also become victims of so-called ‘honor’ killings.
