Cultural, civil and women advocates, along with a number of locals in Bukan, northwestern Iran, held a protest rally on Thursday, July 16, protesting acid attacks against women.
Security forces attempted to prevent this gathering, an eyewitness said. Plainclothes agents on the scene sought to disperse people. They also sought to instigate violence to create mayhem, according to an eyewitness.
It is said one of the victims of a recent acid attack, Susane Ismaeel-nezhad, was studying construction in college. Her brother, Ali Ismaeel-nezhad, emphasized in a recent interview: “Security apparatuses are behind acid attacks against women.”
