A university professor who slept on the streets for a few nights says infants are sold before even being born in Iran. Dr. Chitchian says the status of homeless people sleeping on the streets is so dire that infants are sold while they are still in their mother’s wombs at a mere price of 17.5 million rials (just around $500).
Chitchian presented his plan in a 9-volume book and provided an image of the outer-city areas in Tehran Province to the Ministry of Interior’s Social Group, the state-run Mehr news agency reported. According to his findings Tehran’s 12th district, consisting of Odjalan and Darvazeh Ghar neighborhoods are in very poor conditions. (State-run Meh news agency – August 22, 2015)
The mullahs Interior Ministry reported 18 million Iranians are living in unofficial residential facilities.
Interior Minister Director General Reza Mahbubi also mentioned the 18 million figure, and referred to the decrease in the country’s social wealth. He rated the country 14 and Tehran as 10 on a scale from 1 to 20.
“These numbers are truly concerning. I cannot provide many of the numbers because reporters are present and this is an open-door session,” he stipulated. (State-run news agency – August 22, 2015)
Shahindokht Molavardi, Hassan Rouhani’s deputy in women and family affairs had said recently 5,000 of the 15,000 homeless people living in the streets across the country are women. (State-run ILNA news agency – July 11, 2015)
Homayun Hashemi, head of the Health Organization had said 6 months ago that 2,000 street children were identified. He emphasized that homelessness has grown amongst young women.
Tehran mayor Ghalibaf said that the Iranian capital alone has 15,000 young homeless women and even college students without shelter. Amongst these individuals there are people who have translated 4 or 5 books and some are even graduates from Iranian state universities!
