Saeed Shirzad, a political prisoner in Gohardasht Prison of Karaj, west of Tehran, issued a letter to civil activists asking for more attention and awareness regarding the status of Zeinab Jalalian, a female prisoner in Khuy Prison who is in critical conditions as a result of being deprived of medical care.
She is currently suffering from serious eye problems.
“Zeinab’s eyes are my eyes. Don’t let them take her eyes from her,” Shirzad wrote.
“Let us set this endless pain aside… a feeling of pain that I don’t know whom to share with; with the mother of Atena or Omid, or the mother of Sohrab and the mother of Mostafa, or maybe the mother of Reyhaneh and Sattar, or even the mother of Saeed, who is hoping just to find out where her son is buried. I want to tell you about someone’s eyes that may go blind any day now. Her name is Zeinab Jalalian and she has been suffering from pains for years. From the walls of Evin Prison whom she leaned on, to the very lonely walls of Diezel Abad Prison, and again to Evin… there is no mentioning of Diezel Abad any more… I am talking about Zeinab Jalalian who was never officially informed of her death sentence, and is currently unaware of her sentence of life in jail that she is serving… what was Zeinab’s crime, to place
her entire life and youth years for a cause, and now does she have to lose her eyes because those who claim they are defending human rights have remained silent? I wrote this letter asking you to be the voice of Zeinab Jalalian
