Two young women aged 20 and 22 near the city of Marand in East Azerbaijan Province (northwest) have become the latest victims of acid attacks on Saturday evening, 31 October.
The state-run maranddailynews.ir wrote that the attackers fled the area and victims have suffered almost 30% burns. They have been transferred to Sina Hospital in Tabriz and the governor of this city has confirmed the crime.
Acid attacks on the faces of defenseless women, carried out under the pretext of improper veiling to cement a climate of fear, began back in October 2014 in Isfahan and Tehran, and to this day, have spread to other cities across the country.
