Civil activist Atena Da’emi was deprived of seeing an ophthalmologist for her vision problems because of complications in signing her forms by Evin’s former and present prosecutors. Ms. Da’emi had been instructed by neurologists to see a doctor for her vision.
Ms. Da’emi, 27, has been suffering from various illnesses due to prolonged solitary confinement and consequent nervous pressure.
Atena Da’emi was arrested on October 21, 2014 and held in solitary confinement under interrogation for 86 days. She was tried on March 14, 2015 and sentenced to 14 years imprisonment for her peaceful civil activities, on charges of anti-government propaganda, associating against national security, insulting the leader and founder of the Islamic Republic and hiding the documents of crime.
