Political prisoner Sedigheh Moradi is awaiting the authorities’ response to her appeal after serving five years of her prison term without any leaves.
She was arrested on May 1, 2011, and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for assistance to and collaboration with the Iranian opposition, PMOI.
Ms. Moradi, 53, who was also imprisoned during the 1980s on political charges, is suffering from serious physical ailments including ruptured tendons and meniscus and a Sciatic nerve condition which have been further aggravated because of the location of the women’s cellblock in Evin Prison where she has travel up and down the stairs every day.
Ms. Moradi needs to be taken to a hospital to determine whether she needs physiotherapy or surgery, but so far she has deprived and prevented from doing so.
