Kurdish political prisoner Zeinab Jalalian is going blind.
Ms. Jalalian has been behind bars for 10 years without any furlough.
She is almost blind in both eyes due to brutal tortures and denying her access to essential medical care.
Zeinab Jalalian has endured vicious tortures under interrogation. Interrogators have repeatedly hit her head against the wall, fracturing her skull and causing brain hemorrhage and vision impairment.
Prison authorities have conditioned Ms. Jalalian’s access to medical care on her making confessions.
They have summoned her family several times telling them to compel their daughter to confess otherwise she would suffer the fate of executed Kurdish prisoners.
Zeinab Jalalian was arrested at the age of 25 and was ultimately sentenced on November 20, 2011, to life in prison.
