On the night of September 20, 2016, a man splashed acid on the face of a young woman and fled away. The incident took place in west Tehran’s Gisha district.
The victim identified as Arezou, 24, was taken to hospital by neighbors after they heard her screams.
Acid attacks on women have become a common method of violence against women in recent years in Iran due to the judiciary’s inaction and failure to arrest and punish their perpetrators.
