Political prisoner Golrokh Iraee sent out a letter to international organizations from Evin Prison, urging action to save the life of her husband, political prisoner Arash Sadeghi who is on the 36th day of his hunger strike.
“Over one month passes since my husband, Arash Sadeghi, has started a hunger strike. His health is deteriorating. He has had stomach hemorrhage several times and according to the prison’s clinic, his blood pressure is 8 over 4. Nevertheless, there has been no reaction on the part of (prison) officials and he has been abandonned without any special follow-ups.”
Ms. Iraee explained in her letter how fake allegations were filed to bring pressure on her husband who is serving a 19-year sentence. She questioned independence of the regime’s judiciary and prosecutor’s office and wrote, “The Prosecutor’s Office has acknowledged being aware of an infringement committed in my case. Clearly, however, they are not able to show any reaction to the body (the IRGC) that made the arrest. And the Judiciary, too, has repeatedly announced that it acts independently but it has not reacted to this infringement, either.”
Ms. Iraee therefore urged international human rights organizations to take action to save the life of her husband.
