A moving photo has been recently published on the internet of a disabled woman in Bandar Abbas, southern Iran, who is searching for food and other usable items in a trash bin.
The Bandar Abbasi photographer who published this photo wrote, “This disabled woman provides for all of her life’s needs including food from trash bins.”
This and other images that have been published by the NCRI Women’s Committee bespeak of extreme poverty and particularly the feminine face of poverty in Iran, where women are deprived of job opportunities and enjoy no public or social support and have to do anything to provide for their own and their families’ most basic needs.
