At least two more Iranian women have committed suicide over the past week in the cities of Baneh and Raz-o Jargalan.
Shabnam Kedri, 19, committed suicide on Tuesday, November 14, by hanging herself at home in the city of Baneh, western Iran. The reason for her suicide is not clear.
The State Security Force commander in Raz-o Jargalan, in northeastern Iran, also announced the death of a young woman after she set herself on fire. “In the evening of Saturday (November 18) a woman died at hospital to due severe burns.” (The state-run Young Journalists Club – November 19, 2017)
Experts say suicide among Iranian women has had a 66% rise in the past five years.
