Iranian teachers and educators held chain protests in 14 provinces on Saturday, September 18, 2021. Most of the participants were women.
Chain protests took place in Tehran, East Azerbajian, Khuzestan, Isfahan, Fars, Alborz, Kermanshah, Qom, Lorestan, Hormozgan, Ardabil, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer Ahmad, Ilam, and Chahar Mahal-o Bakhtiari provinces. Iranian teachers and educators protested their horrific living conditions and incomes.
In Shiraz, the capital of Fars Province, teachers called for the release of all imprisoned teachers.
The protesters gathered outside the Department of Education in their provinces to demand raise in their salaries up to 80% of the salaries of the science faculty.
The Ministry of Education ratified a plan in 2013 to rank teachers. However, the ministry has failed to implement the plan to this date.
The plan’s implementation has turned into a serious demand of Iranian teachers. According to the plan, the salaries and benefits of teachers must amount to 80% of the salaries and benefits of members of the faculty of science in universities with the same work experience.

15th day of protests by teachers with Green Report Cards
Teachers with Green Report Cards also marked the 15th day of their protest in Tehran on Saturday, September 18, 2021. A number of teachers with Green Report Cards have come together in Tehran. They hold nightly sit-ins until morning outside the Ministry of Education and hold picket lines along the street during the day. These teachers are protesting the ministry’s failure to hire them since last year when they passed their employment exam. They have held many rounds of protests so far.
The continued protests by Iranian teachers and educators, workers, and other toiling sectors bespeak of the Iranian people’s determination to overthrow the clerical regime and bring about change.
