NCRI WOMEN'S COMMITTEE

Works extensively with Iranian women outside the country and maintains a permanent contact with women inside Iran. The Women’s Committee is actively involved with many women's rights organizations and NGO's and the Iranian diaspora. The committee is a major source of much of the information received from inside Iran with regards to women. Attending UN Human Rights Commission meetings and other international or regional conferences on women’s issues, and engaging in a relentless battle against the Iranian regime's misogyny are part of the activities of members and associates of the committee.

The German Foreign Ministry expressed concern over the health of four political prisoners in Iran and called on Tehran to observe human rights standards in their cases.

Ms. Bärbel Kofler, the German Foreign Ministry's Commissioner for Human Rights Policy and Humanitarian Aid, criticized the Iranian regime's failure to observe human rights standards in Iran on Wednesday, December 28, 2016. She called for the release of political prisoners Ms. Golrokh Ebrahimi Iraee, Arash Sadeghi, Ayatollah Mohammad Reza Nekounam, and Morteza Moradpour.

 

Golrokh Ebrahimi Iraee, writer and wife of political prisoner Arash Sadeghi, has been imprisoned to serve a six-year sentence on the charge of "insulting the sanctities and disseminating anti-government propaganda." She has been imprisoned for protesting the cruel punishment of stoning in an unpublished story.
