NCRI WOMEN'S COMMITTEE

Works extensively with Iranian women outside the country and maintains a permanent contact with women inside Iran. The Women’s Committee is actively involved with many women's rights organizations and NGO's and the Iranian diaspora. The committee is a major source of much of the information received from inside Iran with regards to women. Attending UN Human Rights Commission meetings and other international or regional conferences on women’s issues, and engaging in a relentless battle against the Iranian regime's misogyny are part of the activities of members and associates of the committee.

More than 80 Iranian women and men were arrested during the gathering on the International Women’s Day in Tehran outside the Labor Ministry.

To prevent the IWD gathering, security forces brutally attacked the early participants using batons and shockers. At least 59 women and 25 men were arrested.

Thursday night, March 8, the families of those arrested gathered outside the SSF Station on Tehran’s Vozara Avenue, demanding freedom of their children and relatives.

A number of those arrested have been released but the families continued their protest to gain the release of all of those arrested.
