Iran: A woman set fire on herself in front of a security forces building in Mobarakeh

At 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 1, a middle-aged woman set fire to herself in the city of Mobarakeh. She committed this act to protest the detention and torture of her child by Iranian security forces. Before setting herself on fire, she disclosed what had happened to her child. Shouting in the street, she said that her child had been battered by security forces and sent to prison on bogus charges.

Her child has been charged with dealing narcotics and getting into street fights. In utter disbelief of bystanders, this woman poured gasoline on herself and ignited the gasoline. Despite swift attempts to put out the fire, she was badly burned and is currently hospitalized in in Isfahan.
