Nearly 10% of women addicted to drugs in Iran are between 20 and 32

Zahra Bonianyan, advisor to women and the head of the Headquarters Fighting Narcotics for women and family affairs announced that nearly 10% of women addicted to drugs in different cities in Iran are between the age of 20 and 32.

They are mostly encouraged to use opium, glass, alcohol and crack. She also stated that some seven thousand and four hundred women are imprisoned in Iran and added that 60% of them have made their way to prison because of drug related charges. Over 50% of addicted women have started their addiction between the ages of 15 to 19.
