Iran: Suspicious death of a Kurdish female student in Urumiyeh University

On Saturday, March 1, the body of a female Kurdish student by the name of Shayda Hatami was found in Urumiyeh University dormitory. Her death is suspicious and most probably she has been killed.

This 24-year-old was from Novi village in Margour region of Urumiyeh and she was studying agriculture at the university. Her body was transferred to coroner’s office for autopsy and it was declared that she had been murdered.

It should be mentioned that the Shayda Hatami’s family has told the media that their daughter has been murdered.

Some Iranian news agencies have claimed that Shayda Hatami has committed suicide while the coroner’s office says she has been murdered. Her family has promised to follow the case through the judiciary.

It was only 18 months ago that another Kurdish female student from Marivan, Sahar Chavini, was found hanging in Hamadan University dormitory.
