We condemn detention of rights activist

Following the arrest of journalist and human rights activist Narges Mohammadi, other human rights activists inside Iran and abroad have raised their voices in protest.

Reporters without Borders issued a statement on 5 May saying, “Reporters without Borders firmly condemns the arrest of Narges Mohammadi.”

Amnesty International issued an Urgent Report statement on 7 May stating, “RELEASE JAILEDIRANIAN HUMAN RIGHTS DEFENDER

Iranian human rights defender Narges Mohammadi was arrestedon 5 May. She is on trial for charges stemming from her human rights activities. She is a prisoner of conscience.”

Furthermore, families of political prisoners and prisoners of conscience, and those of martyrs once again issued a call for gatherings on 9 May to protest the status of political prisoners and also the arrest of Narges Mohammadi. They had called for the rallies to be held outside Evin Prison
