Iran: Don’t even talk about women in sports stadiums

Ibrahim Mir-Ahmadi, the Friday prayer leader for the town of Galugah in Mazandaran Province (northern Iran), protested the remarks made by various regime officials regarding the presence of women in sports stadiums.

“Even senior executive officials talking about the presence of women in sports stadiums is not right. Women and families have other demands. Officials should maintain this unity and not allow people to mix in such atmospheres,” he said.

“The presence of women in sports stadiums will cause indecency. Vulgar language is used in stadiums towards the referee and between players and it is not good for women to witness such things,” he added.
