Iran: Wife of political prisoner threatened by employer

Azam Piri, wife of a political prisoner, has been waiting six months for her paycheck. She has been in charge of controlling the quality of products in a tea factory and is protesting the threats by her employer.

“I have worked in this factory but have not received my paycheck for six months. After following up on this, not only was I not paid, but was also refused to have my contact extended. The factory director threatened if I don’t take back my complaint, not only will they not pay me any money, but he will also declare that I am the wife of a political prisoner and that I had carried out political activities in the factory. They even threatened to take this whole matter to the Supreme Court,” Piri continued.

“Unfortunately, threatening and harassing families of political prisoners has become a normal trend. Therefore, I will not retrieve my complaint and will follow up on it to the very end,” she emphasized.
