Iran: Women’s unemployment rates

A study of the most recent official report issued by Iran’s Statistics Center shows that unemployment rate for working-age youths in 20-24 age group

who are the most important group seeking jobs in the country was 2.4 times the national unemployment rate this fall (2015). Women’s unemployment rate in the same age group and the same period was 4.2 times the national unemployment rate.

Moreover, the unemployment rate for women under 30 years of age is currently twice that of men’s unemployment rate in this age group.

The unemployment rate for women living in urban areas is 1.8 times the rate for same age group of women living in rural areas.
