Iran: Over 14.500 women identified as illiterate in Yazd

14681 illiterate women under 50 years of age have been identified in the central Iranian province of Yazd. They comprise half of the under-50 illiterate populace in Yazd.

 

One of Yazd’s education officials announced: There is a total of 29.573 illiterates in the 10 – 49 age group. 20.851 of them live in cities and urban areas while 8722 live in the rural areas. 14.892 of them are men and 14681 of them are women.
