Iran: Young women protest dorm’s requirement of Hijab

A group of girl students staged a protest gathering on Tuesday night, November 22, 2016, at Tehran University’s Chamran dormitory.

The protesters demanded lifting of the restrictions imposed on the hours of entrance and exit from the dormitory as well as the requirement of wearing the veil inside the women’s dormitory. They further demanded respect for their privacy and wanted the banner indicating the requirement of mandatory veil removed from the entrance gate.

Earlier on November 7 and 8th, the students residing in this dormitory had staged a two-day gathering in protest to the abysmal conditions in the dormitory and the obligation of wearing the veil inside the dormitory.
