Atena Daemi won’t be back in Evin – prosecutor’s representative

Atena Daemi won’t be back in Evin

The Prosecutor’s representative in Tehran’s Evin Prison announced that Atena Daemi will not be returned to Evin. This news was published on Sunday, January 28, 2018.

In reaction to the repeated referrals of the Daemi family to Evin Prison, seeking their daughter’s return to Evin, Haji Moradi said, “Don’t ever think of her returning. I will not let her come back to Evin.”

Political prisoners Atena Daemi and Golrokh Iraee were transferred to the notorious Qarchak Prison for women in Varamin on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, after being badly beaten up. The transfer was ordered by Haji Moradi after fabricating a new case against them and in total disregard of the rule to keep prisoners in separate categories.

Human rights activists Atena Daemi and Golrokh Ibrahimi Iraee have declared that if these conditions continue and they are not returned to Evin, they will go on hunger strike.

In protest to this illegal transfer, political prisoners Soheil Arabi and Arash Sadeghi (Golrokh’s husband) have already gone hunger strike.

Mr. Hossein Daemi, Atena’s father, tweeted, “Despite all the incidents and the horrible prison conditions in Qarchak of Varamin, my daughter is resistant and strong as ever.”
