Iran: Village girls in Iran face problems for higher education

Village girls in Iran face problems for higher education

Boroujerd’s Education Director said, “Village girls (in Iran) face problems in continuing their education.”

Shahab Rouzbehani said this to a gathering of girl students.

He added, “One of the important problems girl students in Boroujert villages face is continuing their education after the elementary school. The reasons include the location of schools being a long distance away, opposition of some families to their daughters’ attendance in a mixed-gender school, the family’s failure to afford the expenses of transportation, etc. This has created a situation where some girl students have to drop out of higher education.”

Boroujerd is located in Lorestan Province in western Iran. (The state-run ISNA news agency – February 7, 2018)
