2010- Great Iranian singer, very popular, who joined the Iranian opposition in the last decades of her life
Ashraf Sadat Mortezai “Marzieh” was born in 1924 in Tehran.
Her first concert was sponsored by Malek-Oshoaraye Bahar. Afterwards the best musicians co-operated with her.
The height of her career coincided with the Iranian Revolution where women’s singing was banned. Marzieh maintained silence for 15 years and lived in seclusion.
In 1994, she met the president-elect of the Iranian Resistance and joined the opposition against the mullahs’ regime.
She sang some her most beautiful and inspiring songs for the Iranian National Liberation Army and the Resistance movement.
Her political activities and her meetings with prominent political personalities put her in a new position, and she became the voice of resistance and freedom.
Marzieh, the Nightingale of Iranian music, she died on 13 October 2010, after accomplishing a fruitful and honorable artistic and political life.
