The authorities of the Central Prison of Tabriz have prevented treatment of Massoumeh Senobari despite cancer.
According to reports on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, political prisoner Massoumeh Senobari has developed a cancerous mass in her breast because of being subjected to vicious tortures under interrogation. She is having severe pain in the breast area.
Some time ago, a medical team which made rounds in the Central Prison of Tabriz told Ms. Senobari that she urgently needed to be examined by sonography and receive treatment, accordingly.
Prison authorities initially told her to wait but did not take any action. After Ms. Senobari made repeated inquiries about her medical examination, they told her that she should personally pay for the expenses.
Despite financial problems, her family collected and provided the money, but again the authorities did not allow medical examination and treatment of Massoumeh Senobari despite cancer. They said she must be examined again.
Political prisoner Massoumeh Senobari also suffers from heart problems and she cannot sleep at nights due to the pain. But Tabriz Prison authorities do not give her the medicine provided for her by her family.
Massoumeh Senobari, 33, has a child. She was arrested on February 24, 2019 and subjected to savage tortures under interrogation. She suffered a broken leg, fracture of the sole of her foot, blurry vision, etc. during this time.
Ms. Senobari also contracted the Coronavirus while in detention in the Central Prison of Tabriz.
Politlcal prisoner Massoumeh Senobari is sentenced to a total of 8 years’ imprisonment: 5 years for her activities in support of the opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), 1 year for propaganda against the state, and 2 years for insulting the mullahs’ supreme leader, Ali Khamenei.
Reports say that conditions of the clinic in the Central Prison of Tabriz are horrible. There is only one nurse and a doctor visits the prison only once a week without doing anything for the sick inmates.
