In the midst of the clerical regime’s show of amnesty and release of some prisoners, painful cases of human rights violations continue in Iran, including a high school girl who fell into a coma after she was threatened with expulsion from school due to an Instagram post in support of the Iran protests.

Also, many innocent citizens are still in prison, some are summoned to serve their sentences, and many more are arrested or sentenced to imprisonment in unfair and summary trials.

A high school girl falls into a coma after being threatened with expulsion

A 17-year-old high school girl suffering from diabetes fell into a coma after being threatened with expulsion from school and being handed over to security authorities, social media reports say.

Zahra Ahmadi, 17, is a high school girl studying at Umm Kulthum High School in Sardasht, West Azerbaijan. She suffers from diabetes.

On Tuesday, January 11, 2023, the school’s principal, Mrs. Sediqi Pirizadeh, called the high school girl, threatened to expel her from school, and handed her over to the security authorities for posting stories on Instagram in support of the Iran uprising.

The severe stress from the threat caused the high school girl to fall into a coma.

The school principal reportedly knew about her history of diabetes.

Iranian comedian sentenced to 2 years in prison in the court of appeals

Zeinab Mousavi, an Iranian comedian, was summoned on Sunday, February 12, 2023, to serve her jail sentence.

Zeinab Mousavi is one of Iran’s first female stand-up comedians and the creator of the “Emperor of Kosoko” character. She was arrested on October 12, 2022, in the city of Qom by security forces. She was released on bail in mid-November.

During her detention, she spent 25 days in solitary confinement and was sentenced to 2 years in prison.

Thus far, there is no information about the charges against Zeinab Mousavi.

An acting student is arrested

Security forces arrested Mahdieh Soleimani at her home in Tehran on December 8, 2022.

Mahdieh Soleimani, 22, is an acting student at Azad University of Tehran, Sohanak branch. She has just begun working as an actress.

On the day of her arrest, security agents took her mobile phone and personal computer with them. Mahdieh Soleimani is presently detained in Evin Prison, and there is no information about her charges.

Urmia youths sentenced to jail in a summary trial

The trial session of 18 young people from Urmia was held on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, for only a few minutes at Branch 3 of the Revolutionary Court of Urmia. These young people, including four young women, had been abducted by the IRGC intelligence.

The four young women are Golsa Bashiri Rad, Leila Alavieh, Nazanin Ghahremani, and Samaneh Fat’hi, a 15-year-old teenager.

The detained youths are accused of “acting to harm the integrity or independence of the country,” “assembly and collusion to act against national security through teaching the use of Molotov cocktails and propaganda against the state.”

The Revolutionary Court of Urmia convened for only a few minutes. The presiding judge has unofficially announced the possibility of sentencing each of the young people to 2 to 5 years in prison and has set a bail of 500 million tomans for each.
