Expulsion of the mullahs’ misogynistic regime from the UN Women’s Commission was a necessary step, especially after dozens of women and teenage girls were killed in three months of protests in Iran

The membership of this sexual apartheid and child-killing regime in the UN Commission on the Status of Women was wrong in the first place. It contradicted all the CSW goals and insulted the women of Iran and all the women of the world.

The Women’s Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) considers the expulsion of the mullahs’ misogynistic and child-killing regime from the UN Commission on the Status of Women as a necessary step to support women’s rights and human rights in Iran.

The clerical regime’s presence in the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), which was formed to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment, utterly contradicted the CSW’s goals and mandate.

The mullahs’ regime is the world’s top executioner of women. It has suppressed Iranian women and girls over their most fundamental human rights.

The clerical regime promotes violence against women in law and practice, obliging more than 27 ministries and agencies to enforce such violence in the streets under the pretext of “fighting improper veiling.”

Misogyny, gender apartheid, and violence against women are institutionalized in the regime’s laws. Such a regime and its representatives are not qualified to be a UN member, let alone a member of the Commission on the Status of Women.

The NCRI Women’s Committee welcomes the decision to remove the mullahs’ regime from the UN Commission on the Status of Women. As the NCRI President-elect, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, declared, Iran’s ruling religious fascism “does not represent the people of Iran in any way. It must be shunned by the international community and expelled from the United Nations and its various agencies, especially UNICEF. The case of human rights violations by this regime must be referred to the UN Security Council, and the regime’s leaders must be prosecuted for more than 40 years of crimes against humanity and genocide.”

Mrs. Rajavi congratulated the regime’s removal from the UN Commission on the Status of Women. She described it as a victory for all the women of the world, especially the women of Iran who have fought religious fascism for more than four decades.
