A group of political prisoners in Evin Prison signed an open letter protesting the illegal exile of Hakimeh Shokri from Evin to Qarchak Varamin Prison, demanding explanations from authorities.
The letter reads in part, “Hakimeh Shokri was unexpectedly transferred to Qarchak Varamin Prison on December 15, 2014 and [authorities] did not even give her any time to gather her very little belongings. This transfer took place while there are only 7 months are left of her 3-year jail term.
The conditions of Qarchak Varamin Prison are very well known to everyone and detaining political prisoners with ordinary criminals is troublesome at times. The inhumane conditions of female inmates in Qarchak have been reported to the authorities many times.
We are protesting the sudden, groundless and unfair transfer and demand judicial authorities be held accountable as well as the release and return of this political prisoner.”
