Reyhaneh and Ghazal Pakzad, two sisters from Zabul, were arrested on January 2 and 3, 2023, and were taken to an undisclosed location.

According to social media reports, on January 2, 2023, IRGC intelligence forces in Zahedan attacked Ms. Ghazal Pakzad’s residence and arrested her. Ghazal Pakzad is a 30-year-old clothing designer. She has been detained on charges of activity in cyberspace and publishing posts in support of the nationwide uprising of the Iranian people.

Also, Reyhaneh Pakzad, a Zahedan resident and a women’s swimming coach, was arrested at her home on January 3, 2023, by IRGC intelligence forces and taken to an unknown location. She is accused of “propaganda activity against the state in cyberspace,” and her Instagram page has also been banned.

The mother of Reyhaneh and Ghazal Pakzad has been hospitalized due to a lack of information and concern about her daughters’ conditions.

Preventing the temporary release of Sanaz Tafazzoli

The officials of the Central Prison of Mashhad, also known as Vakilabad, prevented the release of Ms. Sanaz Tafazzoli.

Mashhad Intelligence Department arrested Ms. Sanaz Tafazzoli on November 22, 2022, and after 35 days, she was transferred from the Intelligence Department to the Central Prison of Mashhad.

Ms. Tafazzoli’s charges have not yet been fully announced, but the case’s investigator has mentioned her charge as “propaganda against the state.”

Branch 903 of the court announced a heavy bail of ten billion tomans for the temporary release of Sanaz Tafazzoli.

On Tuesday, January 3, 2023, the court accepted the bail bond amounting to ten billion tomans and issued the release of Ms. Tafazzoli from Vakilabad prison in Mashhad. ABOUT US

NCRI Women Committee

We work extensively with Iranian women outside the country and maintain a permanent contact with women inside Iran. The Women’s Committee is actively involved with many women’s rights organizations and NGO’s and the Iranian diaspora.
The committee is a major source of much of the information received from inside Iran with regards to women. Attending UN Human Rights Council meetings and other international or regional conferences on women’s issues and engaging in a relentless battle against the Iranian regime’s misogyny are part of the activities of members and associates of the committee.
